The Trust works with local municipalities in a number of ways

Townships collaborate with the Trust to maximize the effectiveness of their Open Space Programs, offering the Trust as an easement holder for landowners who donate or sell conservation easements on their property.

The Trust accepts donations of easements on municipally-owned open lands, guaranteeing increased protection of those lands as governing bodies change over time.

The Trust offers conservation grant support, including advising municipalities on funding options, writing municipal grant applications, and writing conservation grant applications to match municipal grants.

The Trust also consults on municipal trail planning and acts as a trail and park planning and construction facilitator.

Other services include advice on site-specific conservation design and education on municipal open space referenda.
